Mulu-Tsega Senshaw Dances Through Life

"I realized that West African dance is connected to life in every way. Dancing and drumming are connected –– they're one thing, and it relates to life events  –– I might not know every story behind every step, but there's a story behind every dance. There's a meaning –– it's a celebration. Every aspect of life is spiritual and connected to dance and music and I love that! Because dance and music is my life too, so it just told me that this was what I needed to be doing. After that I took three classes and was like, "I'm done with this. It's beautiful, but I can't do this!" I took a repertory class and then I just kept coming back and it got easier and easier, and now it's my life. It's a good way to live life, dancing all the time, dancing with every event. I love it!"
